OAKBROOK TERRACE — State Senator Suzy Glowiak Hilton announced that eight school districts across the area will receive additional funding to help address the financial challenges of recent years.
“I am pleased to see that several local schools will be receiving additional financial assistance to ensure that students receive a high quality education that they are entitled to,” said Glowiak Hilton (D-Western Springs). “When we invest in our students and teachers we are investing in the future and I am proud to be in a state that continuously prioritizes this critical funding.”
The funding comes from the 2017 Illinois Senate Democrat-backed evidence-based funding formula — an overhaul of the way the state funds K-12 education. The law made school funding more equitable by calculating the needs of individual school districts and basing its state revenue on those needs. The formula takes into account a district’s total enrollment, poverty rate and number of special education or English language learners, among other factors.
Local school districts set to receive funding through the formula:
- Elmhurst School District 205
- Hinsdale Community Consolidated School District 181
- Maercker School District 60
- Marquardt School District 15
- Queen Bee School District 16
- Salt Creek School District 48
- Villa Park School District 45
- Westmont Community Unit School District 201
The Fiscal Year 2026 budget invested $300 million in new funding into students’ success through the evidence-based funding model.
