LISLE— In an effort to bring state government to local residents, Senator Suzy Glowiak (D-Western Springs) is joining Lisle legislators for her first town hall meeting next week.
“I’m looking forward to listening to your questions and concerns,” Glowiak said. “Government works best when there is constant and open communication between legislators and local residents.”
Glowiak will be joined by State Senators John Curran and Laura Ellman and State Representatives Terra Costa Howard and Anne Stava-Murray for the town hall on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Lisle Village Hall (925 Burlington Ave., Lisle).
The meeting is free and open to the public.
"It's important to get feedback from constituents and I'm excited for the chance to talk face to face and keep the conversation going,” said Senator John Curran (R-Downers Grove).
Western Springs is a great place to live, raise a family and work
WESTERN SPRINGS – State Senator Suzy Glowiak (D-Western Springs) is proud to announce Western Springs, Illinois was named the top place to live in Illinois.
“Western Springs is a great place to live, raise a family and work,” Glowiak said. “I’m excited that Western Springs was recognized for its remarkable qualities.”
HomeSnacks ranked cities by a number of criteria from one to 327, with one being the best. The criteria considered included median home values, median incomes, unemployment rates, average commute time, crime, education levels and more.
HomeSnacks recognized Western Springs for its “impressive history” and “low unemployment rates and high incomes.”
Western Springs was not the only city recognized in 24th State Senate District. Hinsdale received the number seven ranking and was applauded for its low crime rates and the 20-minute train ride to Chicago, which means a short commute for many residents.
“Communities across the 24th Senate District provide area residents with a strong economy, affordable housing options and solid education systems,” Glowiak said. “Our district is in a perfect geographic location. We enjoy affordable living and an excellent quality of life with many of the advantages of big city living.”
Glowiak represents the 24th State Senate District, which includes all or parts of Elmhurst, Oakbrook Terrace, Wheaton, Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove, Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, Lisle, Lombard, Oak Brook, Western Springs, Westmont and Willowbrook. For more information visit www.SenatorSuzyGlowiak.com.
SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Suzy Glowiak (D-Western Springs) is supporting the fight for fair maps in Illinois.
Glowiak signed on as a sponsor of Senate Joint Resolution Constitutional Amendment 4, which removes the General Assembly and governor from the redistricting process and requires legislative maps to be drawn by an independent, 16-member Commission.
“This measure promotes a just and transparent process to ensure the people of Illinois have a voice in the manner legislative maps are established,” Glowiak said. “Removing politicians from the process will put a stop to gerrymandering in our great state.”
The 16-member commission would be appointed by the Chief Justice of the Illinois Supreme Court and the most senior justice not affiliated with the same political party as the Chief Justice.
The bipartisan amendment will give voters a chance to give greater input on the legislative redistricting process and promote transparency through public hearings.
“The process outlined in this constitutional amendment will allow for the legislative map to be drawn by an independent group working in the best interests of our state, not politicians who are looking out for themselves,” Glowiak said. “By proactively asking for input and empowering constituents to share concerns, we are promoting a fair and open process.”
Senate Joint Resolution Constitutional Amendment 4 would be effective upon being declared adopted and applicable to redistricting beginning in 2021 and to the election of General Assembly members beginning in 2022.

LISLE— Newly elected State Senator Suzy Glowiak (D-Western Springs) was honored to join community members at the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference this week to honor the organization’s 2018 Governmental Leader of the Year, Mayor Franco from Bloomingdale.
“Our municipal leaders play an important role in our daily lives. They keep our roads clear, pot holes fixed and communities safe,” Glowiak said. “The work done by the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference is outstanding. They provide our communities with a strong voice and even greater regional impact.”
The Governmental Leader of the Year award is the conference’s highest form of recognition and is given annually to elected or appointed officials who support initiatives important to DuPage municipalities and promote Intergovernmental cooperation at the local and regional level.
Glowiak applauds Franco on his continued service to Bloomingdale residents and looks forward to working with local municipal leaders this legislative session.
“It’s absolutely vital for all levels of government to work together to serve the needs of our area residents,” Glowiak said. “I look forward to working with the mayors and leaders in our communities to ensure the people of the 24th State Senate District are receiving the best possible service.”
